    Dear Mr Pa.

    Thank you for your letter to the prime minister, the contents of which have been noted.

    Unfortunately, we cannot take up your suggestion but we suggest you contact your local MP or Citizens Advice Bureau.

    That was Number Ten’s response to a letter from Tony Blair’s dad congratulating him on becoming Prime Minister. And to think… some say this government overlooks personal cases in favour of policies! Where on Earth did they get that idea from?
