What now for Madeleine Fund?
Question of the Day: Given that Kate McCann is now a suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine, and given that one of the stated aims of the fund set up to help find her is “that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice”, will the million pounds raised by Kate and Gerry now be used for prosecution lawyers?

Regardless of whether the parents are implicated, I think the funds should be used for the prosecution because I believe Portugal is relatively poor by European standards and has probably already dedicated a sizable amount of its annual budget to this case. If however, it turns out that well-to-do Brits planned to create this pandemonium in a “backward” foreign nation, perhaps the British government should assume the costs of the Portuguese investigation & subsequent prosecution.
I certainly hope you didn’t mean to ask if the funds should be used for DEFENSE lawyers.

I didn’t mean to ask if the money should be used for defense lawyers, I was simply observing the potential irony of them flying round the world raising money that may ultimately be used against them.
