I visited the Rising Sun Country Park today. It’s the first time I’ve been, despite it being only ten minutes or so from home. It was lovely, and I’ll certainly go back! This picture is of the swallow pond.

I often pass this poster in the window of the former Co-op department store in Newcastle, which is currently being converted to a Travelodge. Note that the thermometer appears to work backwards. I’ve never quite decided whether I think this is an oblique hook into the message, or a very strange mistake.

I found this book on the floor behind my desk at work. It’s approximately twice my age. The casual sexism on every page is really quite disturbing. There’s a whole chapter called “Does your wife drive the car?”. I think it’s sometimes easy to forget the degree of (very welcome) social change that’s been experienced over the last century.
