Nadia Won

Hurrah, she deserved it. Almost makes up for Anna losing out in the first series… but not quite.

As for Jack’s “white as my boxers” comment, I’m not sure I understand. I personally have a veritable rainbow of underwear colours – am I to assume that his boxers started white, or just ended up that way? Or was he, in fact, not very white at all?

The mind boggles.

Preparing for Emergencies

I wouldn’t want any dedicated fan of mine to get hurt, so make sure you check www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk

My favourite part of this story it the Government’s response to the site:

Dear Mr Scott,

Regarding your website, www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk

We run the Government website for the Preparing for Emergencies public information campaign, on www.preparingforemergencies.gov.uk, and are very concerned that the material on your site will confuse people about the sensitive advice and information that we are giving to the public.

This is a very is [sic] serious campaign that should not be trivialised. In the interests of helping people to cope in the event of a crisis or a disaster we would ask that you to take down the site, immediately, and not put it up again in another guise.

Sincerely,

[name removed]

How the hell can anyone be confused by that website? It’s certainly better and more interesting than www.preparingforemergencies.gov.uk, anyway.

Star Wars

With reference to this, does anyone know how “Sith” is pronounced? Is it how it looks, or is it more like define scythe? Because frankly, “Revenge of the Sith” does not sound in any way threatening, and “Revenge of the Scythe” conjours up images of Death’s Scythe taking revenge on…well…Death.

Stupid Country

Say what you like about the French. And even the Americans. I’ve found a new stupiedest country: Nigeria. Clicky-Me-Do

Oh, and if you’re trying to choose a university, Here’s a suggestion.

And if you’re looking for Gmail invites… TOUGH! They’re all gone now. You weren’t quick enough.

Feeling I should post…

Given that I haven’t posted in several weeks, I know how terribly worried you’ll all be for not knowing what’s happening in my all-action exciting superlife.

Well, I finished the uni year and passed (hoorah). My house for next year is just being finished off (according to an email from the letting company, it already is finished but they are just making it ‘lovely’). And I’m at home doing very little.

The theory goes that I should get a summer job, so that I earn money to fund next year. But I really can’t be bothered. However crap an excuse that is, and however much I’m being nagged to get a job by mum/dad/friends, I’ve avoided it successfully so far. Which means lots of lie-ins.

I’m spending my days typing up all of my notes from the first year… nearly 200 pages so far. I’m also apparently viewed as the family taxi service, and so am running people around everywhere. And doing occassional bits of housework. So, to summarise, I’m not really doing anything. Except watching Big Brother. And it’s SO good to have a proper rest.

I have a trip to London planned for next month, and I might be planning one to Stockton to see my new house at some point. I may also be forced to earn some money at some point (maybe JRC will just pay me for, erm, “services rendered”)

So that’s what’s happening at the moment.

By the way… All the Gmail invites have gone now! Better luck next time!

Birthday Happiness

Happy birthday to John! See, I remembered and everything. June 25th, the perfect day for a birthday. Happy birthday, hope you had fun.

Today is the last day of my uni term

I’ve said bye to all my friends, moved a load of stuff into my new house, and now just have to wait tomorrow to go home, and say a final goodbye to the room I’ve been living in all year. It’s weird really, because I feel closer to my friends here, who I’ve only known for eight months, than I do to many of my old school and college friends, some of who I knew all of my life. So it’s been really emotional saying ‘bye’, even though it’s only for three months, and I’ll probably catch up with some of them over the summer.

Anyway, as I sat here enjoying a six-pack (of Kinder Surprise eggs, sadly enough), I thought I’d log on and share birthday greetings with JRC, and do the Special Birthday Dance.

So Happy Birthday.

Tape Management, BBC Style

We gather that things do not run as smoothly as they should down at BBC Bristol.

Apparently, someone in London recently sent an urgent video tape via courier which duly arrived in the post room at said outpost of The Corporation. One of the operatives therein – noticing that the label was peeling off – decided to replace it with a new one. He removed the original and stuck it on the fridge, intending to copy the address after lunch.

The next morning, the sender of the tape was surprised to find this voice message on his mobile. Enjoy.

I nearly wet myself when I first heard this.
