I’m sure the Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle is nothing short of a lovely place to stay. Yet each week, as I stand opposite this sign while waiting for my train, I can’t help but be reminded of Fawlty Towers.

I can’t say I’ve ever been served an Espresso Martini with quite so much whipped cream before. Or, indeed, with any whipped cream. And nor do I think I’d like to be ever again!

Photo-a-day 63: Fleet Air Arm
This is the Fleet Air Arm memorial in Victoria Embankment Gardens, sandwiched between the Ministry of Defence and the Thames. I should probably be ashamed to admit that I had to look up the Fleet Air Arm: it’s the bit of the Navy that deals with aircraft.
